Maxwell Hartt, Ph.D.

Maxwell oversees Urban Demographics at Westwood and is an internationally recognized expert in planning for demographic change with a particular focus on planning for population loss, economic restructuring, and aging populations. He has published two books, Quietly Shrinking Cities and Aging People, Aging Places, and over 40 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. Maxwell's work has examined cities and regions in the USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, Spain, and the United Kingdom. He is a former Fulbright scholar.

He holds a Ph.D. in Planning from the University of Waterloo, Canada, and has taught at Queen’s University (Canada) and The University of Cardiff.
